Spiritual law: As within so without
“As within so without” is a law which basically means whatever thoughts and feelings you have inside of you, you will find them in your external world.
Whatever you hold true inside of you, will be evident in your friends, environment, health, and life. If you have internal peace, happiness, and love, you will be in a peaceful, happy, and loving environment.
Now, if you want peace in the world, first you have to find peace within you. If each one of us takes the responsibility and work at achieving inner peace, then we will have external peace, not only in our lives, but in the entire world.
All the stress, anxiety, and worry you feel is due to your inner world of thoughts and emotions. If you fix them, you will begin to experience inner peace and serenity.
As within so without example
A man who wanted to live in the town where Aristotle lives asked, “How are people in this town? Are they good? Bad?” Aristotle replied, “How are people in your town?” The man responded, “They are not good, which is why I want to leave the town.” Aristotle responded, “The same over here.”
After a while, another man came and asked Aristotle the same question, “How are people in this town?” Aristotle responded, “How are people in your town?” The man said, “They are very compassionate and respectful. This is the major reason why it is very hard to leave such people, but I have to do it for the sake of seeking knowledge.” Aristotle responded, “The people over here is the same, they are full of compassion and respect.”
What we learn from Aristotle’s response is that whatever you hold true internally, you will find it externally every where you go.
There are some folks when they leave their work, complain about their boss, colleagues, and the ambiance, yet they seem to find themselves in the same situation with different people later on. Ever wondered why is that?
Unless they work on fixing their internal world of imaginings, thoughts, and emotions, they will keep finding themselves in similar circumstances.
When we talk about this law “As within so without” we have to mention beliefs. It is beliefs, not negative thoughts that have a big impact on us.
Most of us think negative thoughts daily, yet most of these negative thoughts don’t manifest. It is when those thoughts turn into beliefs they will start bringing results in our lives.
People tend to hold various beliefs inside of them. For example, some think when they see a black cat, then something bad is going to happen. Now, if you hear such a statement and don’t believe in it, it won’t affect you, but if you hear such statement and start believing it, results shall follow.
Every time you see a black cat, you will start expecting bad news and guess what happens when you expect something to happen? It usually does happen, it is cause and effect or as the law says, “as within so without.”
Changing yourself internally
You might say this is all wonderful, but “How can I change myself internally? How can I change my beliefs?” Great questions! One of the best methods used to change the beliefs you hold inside of you is by holding a session with yourself to explore your beliefs.
Once you explore your beliefs, then you can start making changes to these beliefs that you hold. I will discuss some of the methods in a later article to help you overcome negative beliefs.
Remember what Diana Cooper said, “The universe will reshape itself to reflect your reality.”

Hi Dia,
I’m impressed about this important life lesson you give us here. It is so true and profound. Some call it ‘as within so without’, others call it ‘the world is your mirror’.
In my own life I experienced this phenomena last weeks several times – it is not always a nice lesson, it can hurt. When my boss turned me down some time ago, I noticed that I was turning down another guy in the office with exact the same degree. When my girl friend was nagging me at home, I noticed that I was nagging somebody on the office.
Aristotle wise lessons are so profound and true.

This is absolutely true. If you have hate inside then you will see hate outside, and if you have love and peace inside then you will see love and peace outside.
I absolutely believe nothing in your life is there that doesn’t match your thoughts or beliefs in some way.
I also believe that your inner-self (the part of you that just wants to love and be happy) is so smart that if you just listen to it, acknowledge it, then you will always find that you have happy thoughts, beliefs, and outer reflections of that. After all, your inner-self just wants you to be happy!
So my answer to how to change yourself internally is to just listen to your internal self. The gut instinct, the ‘voice’ that says you are doing something wrong or right. And when you hear it, head it’s warning.
Great message!

Thankyou Dia,
Our thoughts are powerful beasts…..and as you say, when they become ‘beliefs’ they are even more powerful. I love the realisation of internal peace, harmony then manifesting into the external occurrence of same. It is true e.g think happy thoughts & you notice more people smiling as you pass them….& the list goes on. Work on the ‘internals’ & the externals become more pleasant.
be good to yourself

Hi Dia,
The message you conveyed in this post is very much meaningful. We all search for peace outside ourselves, but often overlook a simple truth that external peace is nothing but a reflection of our own inner peace.
Once we achieve our inner peace, the world around us changes beautifully.
Outstanding article my friend.

I’m already loving this post Dia.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve explained this to some of my friends. They would always complain to me about their personal relationships and I would always tell them the exact same thing. How can you expect to have happy and fulfilling relationships when you don’t feel that way about yourself? It all starts from within.
I love the belief about moving to another town or the black cat theory. I thank God every single day for everything and I won’t bore you with my list. I feel so thankful and I look at other people and see what’s happening in their lives but I know it’s because I am so grateful for even the little things that I continue to welcome into my life which I know I’m deserving of. It did take me awhile to understand all of that but you are so right. We need to start with our own beliefs.
I did some exercises last April that really helped me understand my past thinking. I recommend every single person completing those so they too can rid themselves of any limiting beliefs because they were all instilled in us through misguided ways. I can wait to read your thoughts on that as well.
Thanks for this awesome post Dia, once again, fabulous message.
Have a beautiful day my friend.
