Solve any problem in less than 15 minutes

Solve any problem in less than 15 minutes

Do you have a hard time finding solutions for your problems? Do you usually dwell on your problems instead of looking for a solution?

Megan loves shopping and spends most of her money on buying expensive clothes. At the end of the month, she finds that she has to pay a bill worth $2000, but the problem is that she doesn’t have the money to pay it off. She spends most of her present time thinking of how she lacks money and how she is going to pay off her bill instead of focusing on how to find the money.

Does the story sound familiar? Many people when they face an obstacle or encounter a problem, they start dwelling on the problem instead of looking for a solution.

Let me ask you, if I ask you now to think of how poor your speech is and how you don’t pronounce your words clearly, what do you think is going to happen? Most people would start thinking of how poor their speech is and the fact they don’t enunciate correctly.

Now, what do you think is going to happen when you start thinking about your financial problems and the debt you have? As long as you stay thinking and concentrating about your financial problems and debt, then this is what you will get. In short, you attract whatever you put your energy on.

To solve any problem you face, follow the below practical steps:

1. Decide what the problem or obstacle is. It happens so often that you might think you are facing a huge problem, but in reality, it is not that huge.

2. Think of a few solutions.

3. Choose the most practical solution from the previous step that you think will be the most helpful solution to your problem.

4. Take action.

Always remember what Denis Waitley said, “Don’t dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer.”

Focusing on the problem definitely doesn’t help, does it? It’s so easy to get stuck in that mode, but if we brainstorm a few solutions and just take some forward action, even small action, we’re suddenly unstuck.

  2. Kate says:

I think taking action is the crucial step – even if we are thinking of solutions we need to take a step further and pput them into practice. But no, thinking of the problem just makes it worse.

  3. You’ve got this right.

Quick and decisive action usually works best. I promote living a “simple, deliberate life”, but deliberate doesn’t always mean slow!

There are usually several solutions that lead to good outcomes. Not making a decision at all rarely does.

  4. Dia: I agree with you that you really do need to have a solid approach you can continually rely on when problems and challenges arise. It is inevitable that they will surface from time to time and you can’t allow them to get you stuck. It is all about having a sound plan and moving forward. Great point.

    • Dia says:

Thanks Sibyl, have a good plan is needed to solve any problem that might surface. The only problem is that the majority of people dwell on their problems, not the solutions. Once we focus on the solutions, then we are on the right direction.

  5. Joshua Noerr says:

Dia, you are so right about defining the actual problem. So many people try to solve an undefined problem, and all that produces is more frustration and tail chasing.

Clearly defined problems allow for clearly defined steps to get past it.

Whenever I face a obstacle that seems too huge I try to break it down into smaller steps and accomplish them one at a time. I have found that screaming “the sky is falling, the sky is falling” just makes me look like a fool. :-)

Once again, excellent post here. Everyone has problems but it seems that not everyone has solutions. Get more solutions and you’ll actually have less problems? :)

Good tips here and something to definitely think about.

Focus on what you want in life and do what it takes to attract it and you’ll actually have it.
