Peace of mind

Peace of mind

What is peace of mind? How do you achieve peace of mind in life?

Peace of mind is the absence of worry, stress, and anxiety. When your mind is tranquil and serene, then you are in control of your thoughts and emotions. In short, peace of mind or what some call inner peace is achieved when you are in harmony with everything else in life.

To achieve peace of mind, you have to be able to overcome excessive worry and anxiety from your daily life. The question is how do you overcome anxiety and worry? There are many different ways, but it all start with awareness of how you look at situations in your life.

If you are not aware of what thoughts you tend to have in your mind, then thoughts will end up controlling you like the majority of people. Research shows that over 80% of the average person thoughts are negative, which is why many people don’t experience peace of mind and inner peace at a regular basis.

When you have peace of mind, you are in control of your mental thoughts and emotions. With constant practice, you can achieve peace of mind and tranquility as having inner peace is a skill that can be learned. The more you practice having inner peace, the more you achieve peace of mind.

One of the main reasons that made me study and do an extensive research on how to achieve peace of mind is due to the fact that little and petty things used to upset me and create anxiety and stress in my life.

During my extensive research and study,  there are many methods that have helped me have peace of mind, but one of the methods is controlling my attitude to what happens and interpreting situations in a positive way. When I encounter a negative situation, I would shift how I look at it from negative to positive as mentioned in my book “How to overcome worry and have peace of mind.”

I admit, at first it was challenging and was very difficult, but the more I practiced, the easier it got. In other words, it has became a positive habit into my life and it can become one of your positive habits too if you practice. 😉

Benefits of having peace of mind

  • Increased happiness
  • Increased focus
  • Increased relaxation
  • Better relationships
  • Better health
  • Better control of your emotions
  • It helps you manage worry, stress and anxiety

Achieving peace of mind

Besides the method that I discussed above “controlling your attitude” to what happens, there are many different methods that you can learn and apply to your life to achieve peace of mind like living in the present, facing your fears, meditation, creative visualization, praying among other ways. In the coming articles, I will discuss in detail other various ways to help you achieve peace of mind and inner peace.

Before I end this post, I will leave you with the following quote on peace of mind, “Peacefulness is an inner sense of calm – it comes from becoming still – in order to reflect and meditate on our inner wisdom and receive answers. A peaceful heart is one that is free from worry and trouble. It’s becoming quiet so we can look at things quietly so we can more clearly understand them and thus come up with creative solutions. It is learning to live in the present.”

Have you ever wondered why some people are happy and have peace of mind while others keep worrying?  Why do some people’s life filled with worry while others filled with happiness and peace of mind?  My e-book How to have peace of mind answers those questions and teaches you the scientific ways to control and overcome worry and have peace of mind.

  2. Having peace of mind helps us to be satisfied with what we currently have and find happiness in what we have achieved. One thing that makes us lose that peace of mind is today’s society that demands more and more productive work and we finally end up straining ourselves. There was nothing that we would be losing if we would have rejected that work but something compelled us to go forward. Once we know what that something it and cage it , we will be left with absolute peace of mind.

  7. Hi Dia,

Wonderful and you are right, piece of mind is living without worries, stress and anxiety. Got love that kind of a life.

You ask, “Have you ever wondered why some people are happy and have peace of mind while others keep worrying?” For me it was when I realize that I had no control, so I stopped fighting the fear and just let go. I realize that the sun was going to come up in the morning and a new day always meant a new start.

It is wonderful to live life in the moment, without all the outside worries and stress we have put ourselves through.
Everyone needs to read, “How to Have Piece of Mind.” It is like starting a new life.
Thanks again Dia for writing about this topic.

    Hi Dia,

Sometimes I have wondered how some people are happy and seem to have not a care in the world, but nowadays, I don’t think about it too much. I try to maintain a peaceful balance, but sometimes it is hard for me not to worry about certain things.

Thank you for your words of wisdom. I’ll do my best to put the situation that I have no control over in the hands of someone greater than myself. I know through Him, I will get the peace that I seek in that situation.

    Take care!

  9. I know exactly what works for me, and how to achieve peace of mind. Praying. The interesting part is that often, although I know it works, I don’t do it as much as I should. Call it laziness, or whatever you might, but often I notice that if I don’t start the day with a prayer and meditation – things will not go right.

Praying is the best method to achieve peace of mind, there is not doubt about it. Whenever we pray and ask God to help us, our worries will lessen and inner peace will be ours. The key is to pray constantly. Meditation also is one of my favorite methods as well. Thanks Christian

    Hey Dia,

Re: ‘but one of the methods is controlling my attitude to what happens and interpreting situations in a positive way’.
This is spot on as we all face similar situations. How we react to them is different. I am big on over preparing for things. Preparedness definitely will alleviate some of the stress and will help with that peace. Leaving early to get somewhere on time. Studying hard for that test, etc.
    Thanks for the insight.

“preparing” for whatever task we want to accomplish sure helps us experience peace of mind more. Also, the way we react to situations is really crucial. After all, attitude plays a crucial part in achieving inner peace. Thanks Rob

  11. Hi Dia,

“Little and petty things used to upset me and create anxiety and stress in my life”. I was the same way and that is the same reason that I sought out ways to reduce stress in my life.

Inner stillness is the best way to reduce stress but it can be hard when the mind is telling us all of the things that we have to do. I just need “chill-out” time once in a while.

Yea it took me really many years to learn manage anxiety and worry. If I didn’t practice and if I gave up on the idea of achieving peace of mind, I would have been still in the same place with my worry. We can’t eliminate worry and anxiety 100%, but if we reduce to a minimum, then we are on the right path. Thanks Justin

Hi Dia- while reading your post I thought of some of the reality shows that are on TV today. Outside of the first season of the apprentice, I remember watching three episodes of Real Housewives NY and having the thought that it must be hard to live in peace when there is societal pressure to be in conflict all the time. Your post is a great reminder that to live is peace is a choice of the individual and it is not made conditional by anyone or anything else.

One can choose to live in peace, if one is willing to let go of the ego.

  13. Dia, it’s amazing what can happen when we come to peace with who we are, what we’re capable of, and just how the world works. I think often our stress and anxiety is directly related to how we view the world. Do we view people as generally good? Do we think of God as good? All of these impact our worry level and our peace of mind!

    Hello Dia,

The still point one achieves by deliberately working with the mind is a place of deep power, although it feels like you’re not “doing” anything. The “being” takes over, and puts you in connection with the vast field of unmanifest potential, where everything is possible.

Of course you would have peace of mind in such a place!

Also, in this very moment, all is well. Everything is fine. That is easy to see and experience. All the more reason to stay present to the now :-)

    Great post! Thanks so much.
