Kelly is a singer where she learned to use creative visualization to help her reduce stress due to stage fright. Kelly says she constantly closes her eyes whenever she feels stressed and starts imagining the audience clapping and cheering for her. She actually would hear them in her mind chanting “bravo…bravo…excellent performance…”

Jane mentions that whenever she experiences stress throughout her day, she starts to visualize the time when she got her first baby. She sees in great details how she held him and took care of him.   She remembers how he used to smile at her everytime she holds him and starts playing with him.

Visualization is super powerful. It not only reduces stress, it can change your mood and make you feel better. It’s like reprogramming your mind for things it thought but didn’t enjoy.

Visualization opens up such a wonderful world for us. Not only visualizing success in those desired areas, but also visualizing the root of that stress (that hidden emotion), that makes this a struggle for us in the first place…identify with the uncomfortable emotion, and then visualize the stress leaving your body. The energy that leaves will assist in your success as well, because there is no trigger point anymore for fear or anxiety…

    Dia,

I learned of the benefits of visualization from a friend of mine during a basketball game. He told me to imagine that everyshot that I threw up would go in. And guess what happened? He blocked everyone of my shots afterwards. But I did learn proper form and ever since then he only block 5 of my 10 attempts. :-)

I tell you, you are funny my friend. ;) Yea all successful people visualize what they want consciously or unconsciously. The more we visualize what we want in life, the faster we achieve it. Holding regular visualization sessions is crucial to manifesting what we want in life. Thanks Frank

  4. Dia,

When I “see” myself solving a problem or receiving what I want, it usually works out to the positive. After all, what we think about usually becomes our reality.

    Thanks for sharing these techniques,

    Alex

  5. Hi Dia,
I had been using visualization since I was a kid. I would use it mostly when I was bored but I learned later in life how to use it for rehearsing something.

Some people have such an extraordinary ability to visualize that their minds can’t tell the difference between real and imagined.

I find your 3rd point most applicable to me. Acdomplishing something can really be achieved if you continuously visualize your success.

In a way the summary of your article would be visualize positivity. I hope no one visualizes failure because it would lead to catastrophe.

      Hi Dorcas,
Yep for sure, we have to visualize things that are positive. If we visualize negativity such as failure, sadnesss, illnesses, etc…then this is what we create. It is very crucial that we visualize harmony, peace, and positivity in life.

  7. Hi Dia,

I’m a huge proponent of visualization. I think it’s important to mention that the visualization must feel good. If you see yourself as having a million dollars, but that thought brings up all kinds of negative emotions, you’re nowhere near actually getting a million dollars… But if you keep visualizing and paying attention to how you feel, you can slowly work your way into feeling good about what you see. :)

Nice post. I am a strong proponent of visualization, as well. It also gets easier, so if you’re not very good at in the beginning, keep sinking into the details, and eventually they become easier to see/experience. Stepping from mind into manifestation, a powerful practice!

  10. Hi Dia,

Visualization is very powerfull and does make a difference. I like the examples that you give Dia. Guess you might say i do this also when I’ve woken up in the middle of the night with a bad dream. I pick a happy time when I was having fun and visualize it. I can go back to sleep and sleep like a baby. (One that sleeps through the night. LOL)Takes way all that stess from the bad dream.

Visualization also works for accomplishing goals. You have see it, feel it and sometimes even taste it and you can accomplish it.

Thank Dia for yet another great post and examples.

    Hi, Dia,
I appreciate the idea of emotional memory in helping with stress dealing.
And I also agree, visualization can help out with this issue-since stress is something we create with our own will, and it is all in our head, we also have an ability to fight it on emotional level. Our mind is a powerful tool. Whenever we want to, we can create positive effects, and thus, fight the stressful situations.

Great post, it makes perfect sense.

I also think it helps if you visualize the cause of the stress, laying it out helps keep it off your mind. When I was in debt I found it helpful to know who was owed exactly what all the time by keeping a note on my desktop.

Whether through visualisation or not, I do think it is important to take time each day to just reflect on where you are. I think stress often comes through not dealing with problems and letting them build by ignoring them. If visualisation helps isolate and solve problems, then it can only be a good thing.
