Why do you watch too much TV?
Can you honestly answer this question? Take a few minutes and think about it. Do you have a goal that you really try to avoid? Do you have fear that you will fail, so you just sit on your couch and start flipping through the channels instead? Or are you just plain lazy?
Whatever the reason is, you need to realize that there are harmful effects, so allow me to point out some of the reasons why watching too much TV is harmful for you:
The time you lose will never be returned. Every minute you have is precious and should be used to help you live a better life and accomplish something big. Remember, you have only one life to live, so make it worth-while.
2. It makes you in active and lazy
Think about it, if you are addicted to watching your shows, you might start to come up with excuses for not exercising and for not spending enough time with your loved ones.
3. Losing focus on what is important in life
It also makes you lose focus on your plans and the goals that you dream of reaching. To have a focused mentality, you need to be able to concentrate on what is important in your life and get rid of all the distractions.
As I mentioned there is nothing wrong with watching TV if you do it in moderation. However, if you do it in order to deal with your life challenges and escape living in the present, then it is time to raise your awareness and take charge of your life.
So, how do you break addiction to television?
I’m not going to mention to you that you need to do it gradually until you stop spending too much time infront of your television as this is common sense and everyone knows that. What I’m going to say is you need to replace this behavior with a new, positive one.
The new behavior could be devoting more time to exercising or to learning new sports such as karate, yoga or swimming. Or, you could devote more time to enhance and nurture your current relationships. Or, the new habit can be starting a business, writing your first book or novel, or simply reading a beneficial book.
When you replace any unwanted behavior with a new, uplifting one, they will start to become part of your life and personality.
Remember, your life is precious, so focus on living every minute the best you can and focus on the things that can help you achieve greatness.
