How to be more productive in life

How to be more productive in life

How do you become more productive in life? How do you achieve your goals and success? How to be more productive in life?

Many people want to be more productive in life, but they get overwhelmed when they have many things that they have to do. They have goals that they want to accomplish, tasks to finish, and do something that will have a big impact in the world and in their lives, but don’t know how. There are 8 steps that I believe are essential if you want to accomplish more and become more productive in your life.

Increase productivity

If you want to learn how to be more productive in life and increase productivity, follow the quick guide below:

1. Sleep less

Studies show that the average person can sleep for six and a half hours a night without affecting his health. If you practice on sleeping one hour less every single day, you gain 7 hours a week and that is enough time to work on projects and tasks that you might have been procrastinating because of lack of time.

2. Fast reading

Learn to improve your reading skills and fast reading. Learn to read books that offer some benefits for you and for your life.

3. Exploit your time

When you travel, carry a book with you to read and a notebook to write any new idea that you might think of that could help you improve your life.

4. Relax

Give yourself some rest after you accomplish a task to clear up your mind. Meditation and exercising are two good examples that you can use.

5. Eat light meals

During your day, avoid eating heavy food as it will reduce your energy.

6. Pamper yourself

Hard work does not mean you have to forget about pampering yourself.  Taking a vacation, working on your hobby, going to the beach are good ways to spoil yourself and revitalize yourself.

7. Communicate better

People in general lose lots of time every year because of social courtesies. Learn to say NO to anyone if you have something necessary to finish and accomplish.

8. Improve yourself

As I mentioned in my book “the ultimate guide to achieve your goals” to be able to achieve success and be more productive, you have to keep working on improving and developing yourself. Learn a new language, read personal growth books, listen to personal growth authors while in your car, work on understanding yourself better.

  1. Great list here Dia. Over the last year of my life, I’ve applied most of these (I’m applying #1 as we speak ;) and the dividends have been huge. I also strongly agree with #7. The skill of learning to say ‘no’ at the right time is one of the most important we can develop in our path to productivity.

      Hi Marcus,

Good for you my friend. Wish you great success with applying number 1 :) Yea, saying “no” at the right time is for sure helpful in our life and it helps us stay productive.

  2. With just 7 hours of sleep one individual can so much done, its incredible. We have to use our time and energy to be productive. No time to waste, we must focus on being authentic and get things done. Matter of fact, i got to write up a blog post right now…lol..see you around Dia, great post.

  3. Word!

I’ve been speed-reading for years (the book, Breakthrough Rapid Reading was one of my best investments ever), but began working seriously on my sleep habits only recently. One thing I would add is that if you sleep far more than 7 hours right now, you will need to adjust gently and gradually. After all, achieving a worthwhile goal demands that we function at or near our best.

    • Dia says:

      Hi Travis,

Yea I agree with you if someone sleeps more than 7 hours, then he/she has to adjust slowly and gradually. It is step by step process. Good for you that your learned speed-reading, this is one of the skills that I wish I learned, but I haven’t unfortunately.

I am a firm believer in the premise of never wasting a minute. My wife sometimes gets angry with me because any idle moment I maximize my growth potential. I constantly keep a book in my hand or my laptop close by to get as much done as possible. Another way I have boosted my productivity is enjoying my down time to it’s fullest. Take a vacation and do just that. You will come back refreshed and focused. I promise. Great Job Dia!

    • Dia says:

      Hi Frank,

For sure my friend, we have to take our time seriously. It is crucial for our growth. Taking a vacation is for sure helpful as it allows us to come back refreshed and focused.

Dia- I can account for the power of #1. I have a very full plate: 3 kids, and professional career being the biggest of the time takers and to get time in I have to take time away from something. So, each night, I sleep 5 hours. this gives me 19 hours a day to get stuff done and I still find it a challenge. Good job with this post Dia!

  6. I like number 8. You do have to keep learning and improve yourself. Without knowledge you will get stuck in the same place. I have found when it comes to the social part, during the day you don’t andswer the phone. You can always return call on your down time.
    Thanks Dia for the reminders.

      Hi Debbie,

That is right Debbie, if we don’t keep on learning, then we stay in the same place. In order for us to grow, we have to read and get knowledge. After all, knowledge is power.

  7. Hi Dia! These are all wonderful tips and I can see how they’d make my productivity skyrocket. I’ve been working on your first item: sleep less. I started waking up earlier and earlier and I’m now waking up at 4 am which leads to 6 hrs of sleep. I’ve noticed that I get sleepy during the day now. I may try to go back to waking up at 4:30 again (6 1/2 hrs of sleep which according to your research maybe better for my health) and see if what helps. The alternative would be to stick to the 4 am schedule (6 hrs of sleep) until my body adjust, unless this is going to affec my health in the long run like research says. I’ll see.

Thanks for this great post! Loving blessings!
