How do depressed people think?

When they think of a certain problem or issue and try to understand it, depressed people usually make a wrong interpretation where they take things too personally and look at the event in a negative way which often results in mental and emotional disorder.
These kinds of interpretations usually are exaggerated and they start believing something dangerous is going to happen to them. These kinds of negative and exaggerated assumptions are common among folks who worry a lot and who are depressed.
Therefore, you will find such folks expect the worst to happen to them and to their families. They expect to lose their jobs or businesses, they expect to lose their beloved ones, and they expect to fail at new business adventures and so on.
Depressed folks tend to exaggerate their weaknesses and tend to have low self esteem. When they do a mistake, they consider it a calamity and a disaster.
When they fail at reaching a certain goal, they start thinking to themselves thoughts that are similar to “I’m incapable person and I can’t reach my goals.” When a friend leaves him, he thinks “I’m starting to lose all my friends” or “There are no true friends.” Do you see the pattern here?
We also find that the depressed individual interprets positive situations as negative. For example, if he gets a job that he likes, he says, “I just got this job because they feel bad for my situation” or “I got this job due to coincidence.” In other words, most of their assumptions tend to be negative.

Understanding the thoughts that go behind individuals who are depressed helps you to learn about their pattern of thinking, so you can avoid it.
