Do you have poor self image problems
Do you have poor self image problems? Do you keep worrying about the way you look and you feel you are not good enough? Perhaps, you believe you are not attractive?
Many folks in today’s world suffer from poor self and body image, not only adolescents and young adults, but all age groups. Such person keeps focusing on the same poor image over and over and ends up feeling sorry for him or herself.
The effect of poor self image on you
When you have a poor self image problem, you will keep replaying this image every time you meet someone.
So if you have an image of yourself as a shy person, you will begin to avoid meeting or talking to people. This could result in you missing on many social events and not participating in family parties. Unless you work on changing the poor self and body image you hold in your mind, you will not be able to live life fully.
Where the idea of poor self image started
The poor self image gets formed at an early age as a result of the 60,000 NOs a child hears from the age 2-6. For example, if people kept calling you words like “fat” or “ugly,” most likely these words have affected you and what is worse is that you start to believe in them.
This is unfortunately nothing new as we see it prevalent in today’s society. Unless you reject these false beliefs, the poor self and body image you have of yourself will stay affecting your life.
Improving poor self and body image
One of the most proven methods that are used to improve poor self image is through looking at the mirror. Dale Carnegie mentioned an exercise where you look at yourself in the mirror while practicing different kinds of smiles. Then choose the smile that makes you look great and powerful. Whenever you meet someone, bring back this powerful image of yourself. You will be astonished at how fast you will begin to develop a healthy image of yourself.
This might be a simple exercise, but if done correctly, it can prove to be powerful.
