Do you believe in your dreams and goals?
For many years, people believed that it is impossible to run a mile in less than four minutes. They had the belief in their mind that no one can run a mile in less than four minutes and that if someone tries, his heart would stop and will end up collapsing.
Roger Bannister was the first person to challenge this belief, which is to run a mile in less than four minutes and he succeeded in 1954. After Roger Bannister ran a mile in less than four minutes, 37 runners broke the belief barrier in the same year. More than 300 people were able to run a mile in less than four minutes the year after.
Let me ask you, do you believe you can achieve your goals? Do you have faith that you will succeed at whatever you want in your life? Do you believe you can become rich? Do you believe you can be healthy? Do you believe you can have a healthy relationship? Remember, you will get in life what you believe and have faith in.
There are many people in life stay stuck in the same job because they don’t believe they can get a better one. There are many people stay in an abusive relationship because they don’t believe they can have a happy relationship.
When I talked about the power of belief in my book the ultimate guide to achieve your goals, I stated that whatever you believe in life is what you get. If you believe that you will not have a happy relationship, then your subconscious mind will look for ways to prove this to you. If you believe you can’t get this particular job, then your subconscious mind will look for evidence to support your idea and belief.
Causes for lack of belief and faith
1. Limiting beliefs
2. Lack of self esteem and confidence
How to develop belief and faith
If you have a limiting belief, ask yourself, what makes others achieve success while you can’t? Do they have an extra brain? Extra hands? More time?
Remind yourself, if others could achieve success, then you can. It is only a matter of what you believe and what ideas your put in your head and in your subconscious mind.
2. Depend on God
A few years ago, I used to worry a lot about the future if I‘m going to achieve my goals. In fact, I used to worry so much that I used to waste a lot of time worrying instead of working on my goals.
I started to ask myself good questions like “If I worry, is it going to change anything?” Of course it doesn’t. Since then, whenever I start to have doubts about achieving my goals, I turn to God and depend on him. I trust that God is doing everything for my own good.
3. Think of past success
We all have achieved success at one time in life. Remind yourself of a time where you achieved something big. Ask yourself how did you get it? What steps you took to achieve it? When you go back in time and start thinking about your past achievement, faith and belief will start to become stronger within you.
Remember, the more you start thinking and focusing on success, your subconscious mind will start to absorb these ideas. Strengthening the belief in yourself is achieved through positive programming in your subconscious mind and it is achievable with constant practice.

It’s amazing how few people will actually attempt something that’s seen as ‘impossible’, but once it’s done, everyone wants to try it!
Meditation is always useful, I meditate a few minutes a day when I get the chance. It helps me to re-focus and re-position myself
Hi Stuart,
Exactly my friend, many people go for the ordinary and don’t reach for the “stars.” Many of the things that most people think is impossible, in reality, we can achieve it. Whether it is achieving the job we want, opening our own business, having the perfect relationship etc…
Meditation is crucial as it helps calm our minds and focus on what is we want to achieve. Thanks Stuart
When we surrender our problems to God, then we free ourselves of the pressure and anxiety that is only keeping us from reaching our dreams.
I believe when we surrender to God we are not giving up, we are just asking for help – and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Thanks for the inspiration Dia,
Alex
Hi Alex,
Exactly my friend, there is nothing more powerful than turning to God and asking him for help. When we turn to God for help, our faith gets strengthened and worry will go away.
Hi Dia,
I often say it takes “being unreasonable” to take on new goals. The world voice will often shout “be reasonable!” when it comes to creating ourselves anew. Certainly Roger Bannister was unreasonable. “Being unreasonable” creates space for innovation and marvelous breakthroughs.
Hi Rob,
For sure my friend, being “unreasonable” as you put it is necessary if we want to get out of the ordinary and achieve something big. Once we convince our subconscious mind that we can achieve whatever we want, faith and belief get stronger and we will be on the road to success.
Thanks for another great article Dia. Point #2 hit home. I put out the intention to the universe (God) that I will achieve x, y and z. Then I put in the work and let the universe lead me to where x, y and z are a reality. Worrying is pointless because I have found 95% of what I worry about never comes true. If I am worrying, I am sending those intentions to the universe which never help the situation
Hi Katie,
For sure worrying is usually a waste of time. Instead of worrying, we can choose to have faith in God and that everything is going to be well. If we believe and depend on God, he for sure will help us
Hi Dia,
It’s wonderful how you have us look deeper into ourselves to analyze our goals. Taking a deeper look at our beleifs and faith source will only manifest our desires more strongly. Great job on this Dia!
Hi Dandy,
For sure my friend, when we develop faith and belief, our goals will get manifested a lot easier. This is why it is crucial to convince our subconscious mind with what we want to achieve.
Dia, these are all great tips on finding the faith to believe in yourself. If you can’t see the finished result in your head, how will you ever know when you’ve arrived there? Belief is the foundation by which everything comes into being. Napoleon Hill said it best, “Desire is the starting point of all achievement.” I would add “Faith” to that mix as well.
Hi Bryan,
I agree my friend, we have got to see the end results. If we can’t see it, then we won’t achieve it.
hello dia
it’s important to remind ourselves of our past successes because they serve as reference points and provide the necessary boost to our confidence. i also subscribe to the notion of turning to God when all hell is let loose because there’s this peace thats experienced knowing that it will be okay
take care and enjoy the rest of the day
Hi Ayo,
For sure reminding ourselves of our past successes helps a lot to ignite those emotions that are full of faith and belief. Turning to God is the best way to see peace of mind and it is the best way to develop faith.
Hey Dia-
I must admit that I never held my dreams and goals as objects that I could actually grab. They were more like hopes…but with little action involved…
But now…all that has changed. All of that has changed, I repeat. I have faith in my goals, just has I do that I’ll grasp my next breadth. I’m so focused that I can’t see how they can’t come true. My goals lay on my mind 100% of the time, so every move that I make is in some way in direct benefit and contribution to me fulfilling that goal. Man, how the mind can change if you allow it!
My friend – your work is brilliant. Each time I see your blog with (1) in my reader account I rush over because I know that I have some great learning to do. Peace!
Hi JK,
I tell you my friend, you are on the way to success, I feel it and you deserve it my friend
I agree that the mind can do wonders if we let it. There is huge power lies in our mind and our subconscious mind. Thanks JK
I really enjoy your work. Depend on GOD! Wonderful Lesson. Those who don’t are lost..and those who do are found. Great post Dia.
Dia,
Expectations are so important for the results we will achieve. I think having confidence, training and learning also play a role in what we are able to do, but overall expectations and attitude are a major part of the equation. I really like your thoughts on thinking of past success and depending on God. Thanks for sharing!
I’m not a goal guy I’m an intention fella – I have an intention which I pay attention too (thank you Deepak Chopra for the concept) which allows me to respond and react to opportunities and possibilities that come into my orbit. Maybe that’s a goal under another name but the main thing is if we have nothing to aim at we have nothing to aim for. Another winner from you Dia!
