How to be energetic?

Follow the below steps on how to stay energetic throughout the day:

1. Breathing

You might know that breathing is indispensable for everyone, but do you know that the majority of people do not breathe correctly? Start from today to work on your breathing skills for around 15 minutes a day. Start by taking deep breaths slowly, hold the breath for 10 seconds, then release.

2. Morning exercises

Spend around 20-30 minutes of your morning moving your body. You could do aerobics, yoga, walking, running, stretching, push ups, or anything that you like doing. The important thing is to move, relax, and strengthen your body and muscles.

3. Watch your eating habits

You have to make sure that you eat healthy food that is right for you as there is no health system that is good for everyone. People who are diabetic have to avoid eating lots of sweets and people who have high cholesterol must avoid eating red meat. Consult your doctor to find what kind of food is suitable for you.

You can start your day eating fruit and avoid eating fat and oily food to be and stay energetic. Make sure that you eat salad with your meals as salad provides the body with a lot of fiber which means you could lower your cholesterol, reduce your calories among other benefits.

Keep a bottle of water close to you all the time and drink water as much as possible to avoid dehydration. Drinking different kinds of juices is helpful as well. Drinking lots of water and drinking liquids are the key to stay dehydrated and energetic.

  1. Jean Sarauer says:

Sometimes it’s easy to forget we have a choice in how we feel and how much energy we have. Doing some deep breathing and stretching gives me an immediate energy boost, as does taking a short walk in my neighborhood. I’m also a vegetarian and drink plenty of water, and this seems to help. Some days I’m a lazy slug (winter!), but most days I’m pretty good with following a healthy routine :)

  2. Frank says:

Recently I have been having a hard time pressing through the second half of my day at work. I have had a lot of success by moving. I have started to go outside and get fresh air on my breaks and also have used some of the time to “try” (beginner) to meditate on good and positive things that affect my life on a daily basis. So far it has helped.

  3. Dia says:

@That is really nice that you are following a healthy routine Jean. Walking, stretching, and breathing are great to do on a daily basis. At first, when we start following healthy habits it will be challenging, but afterwards, it gets easier and it becomes second nature. Thanks Jean

@Getting fresh air helps, that is for sure Frank. It helps to get away from our desk and move our bodies. In terms of mediation, I personally take 5 minutes in the afternoon to meditate on positive things. It helps a lot. Thanks Frank

  4. Kate says:

I think the water is essential, I really notice if I don’t get through my 3 litres a day my energy dips significantly.
And on days when I exercise in the morning I seem to be more productive. Great tips,
    Many thanks,

All essential ingredients, Dia. People too often forget that an important step to vital living is establishing a mental diet that has us enthusiastic about life. Physical rigor is a consequence of thoughtful vigor.

  6. Dia says:

@Absolutly drinking water is a source of energy. It keeps us fresh. Exercising in the morning helps also, especially if we relax our muscles and do stretching. Thanks Kate

@Thanks Rob, we should always keep those tips in our head so we stay living in a healthy way and stay energetic during our day.

  7. Ayo says:

    hello dia,
    how are you?
thanks for sharing this and if i may add please getting enough rest ensures you are recharged and ready for any new activity that may come up as you go about your daily life.
    take care of yourself

  8. Dia says:

    Hi Ayo,

Getting enough rest ensures we are recharged, that is for sure. Afterall, we all need to get enought sleep and rest our bodies. Thanks Ayo and have a nice day

  9. Dia: Great post and I thought you gave some really great tips. It is so important to have an approach for getting through your day in a positive and energetic way, otherwise we are apt to just react to the situation and what is going on. However, if we are disciplined enough and put good tools to use, we really can go throughout our entire day in a great and energetic way. Thanks for sharing.

  10. Nice article Dia. Taking care of myself physically has been one of the toughest things. I tend to hyper-focus and pay attention to one thing and in the process forget some things vital to my health. I forgot to drink water and I forget to eat. Silly I know.

However, I have found that if I can develop some type of trigger to remind me to break my focus and shift it to something else for a brief time it really helps. I even resorted to setting a timer so it would remind me to get up and walk around every hour.

A friend of mine made it a point to drink a tall glass of water first thing every morning. Filling up a pitcher of water at night and placing it in the fridge before going to be helps assure that we all drink more water first thing in the morning.

  11. Dia says:

@Thanks Sibyl, if we are disciplined and have an approach to stay energetic throughout the day, we find that we have energy to tackle most of the stress and negative things that we might encounter.

@Thanks Leisa, that is really nice to set a timer to remind you to get up and walk. This really helps. Also, drinking water first thing in the morning has many good benefits. I personally drink a large glass of water before I sleep and first thing when I get up in the morning, it helps to stay dehydrated.

  12. Baker says:

Very nice list here! I would also like to add, if the person has the chance to get out in nature, that seems to always raise my energy as well!

  13. Dia says:

Thanks Baker, Getting out in nature helps for sure especially that we get some fresh air and get away from our desks.

  14. Nice blog — and a great post. I discovered you on Kate’s blog, I saw your comment on the Edison quotes.

I’m only recently discovering the value of some activity first thing in the morning. It takes away the stiffness and headaches I seem to have some mornings. Water is important, too.

I look forward to reading you more.

  15. Dia says:

    Hi Gip,

Welcome here! For sure exercising in the morning takes the stiffness away. Water is important all the time, so we stay dehydrated.

Thanks Gip and Have a nice day

  16. Dia,

First time here and I am glad to find to it.

You are so right about all five tips to be happy, energetic throughout the day. Many times, I noticed that when I am famished, or sleepy, I tend to be crankier person. A simple solution for it to have little snacks or get more sleep but many times we will not realize it right away.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

  17. Dia says:

    Hi Preeti,

    Welcome here :)

Absolutly eating will give you energy. If you stay not eating for a long time, your energy will be way lower and you won’t be able to concentrate on doing your work.

  18. I’ve been gold bricking here at work all day and my boss would certainly kill me if she found out I was reading this stuff all afternoon! OK, admin, some questions. How long did it normally take you to write a blog here? And how costly is it to pay for hosting per month? It would be nice to have a page of my own on the net. However I’ve never actually ran one before, so here I am asking you. It would really give me a head start, if you could either email me or respond here… thank you.

It cost me less than $70 for the year to have my website. Let me know if you need help
